All summer camps will be held at
Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School,
4545 Wenig Road NE in Cedar Rapids.

All Kindergarten and 1st & 2nd grade camps are
taught by Kelli Michel, assisted by Emily Kane.

All 3rd - 5th grade camps are taught
by Joe Link, assisted by Mike Sladek.

All 6th - 8th grade camps are taught
by Nick Duffy, assisted by Mike Sladek.

Session 1: On Stage!

Discover the art of theatre! Introduce your budding performer to the fundamentals of the craft -- from acting, improvisation, and scene work to designing, playwrighting, and painting. This camp will inspire imagination and creativity in kids of all ages while they learn the ins and outs of all aspects of theatre.

• Age Group: grades 1 & 2 / grades 3 - 5
• Dates: June 15 - June 26
• Times: Monday - Friday
    9:00 am - noon (grades 1 & 2)
    1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (grades 3 - 5)
• Registration Deadline: June 9, 2009
• Cost: $150 members / $180 non-members

Session 2 Middle School: Camp Dracula

Keep busy this July with our brand new middle school camp. 6th-8th graders will be exposed to every aspect of a theatrical performance, from start to finish, culminating in the showcase of their work. This is the chance to 'put on a play' this summer, working on everything from props and costumes to acting and directing! The play: Dracula, the original vampire story!

• Dates: July 6 - July 31
• Times: Monday - Friday 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
• Registration Deadline: June 30, 2009
• Cost: $300 members / $360 non-members

Session 2 Kindergarten: Stage Door

What better way to enjoy the summer than to head to camp for the first time! Kindergartners will be introduced to theatre in the best way possible -- through playing and pretend. This camp will focus on engaging the imagination a the first step to learning about theatre.

• Age Group: Kindergarten
• Dates: July 6 - July 17
• Times: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 11:00 am
• Registration Deadline: June 30, 2009
• Cost: $100 members / $120 non-members

Session 3: Hit Your Mark!

Master the essential techniques of theatre -- onstage and behind the scenes. Through improvisation, acting, and scene work, as well as an opportunity to learn about the technical aspects of theatre, Session 3 will give kids the confidence they need to make a splash at their next audition or performance; confidence they will carry with them throughout the school year and their lifetimes.

• Age Group: grades 1 & 2 / grades 3 - 5
• Dates: August 3 - August 14
• Times: Monday - Friday
    9:00 am - noon (grades 1 & 2)
    1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (grades 3 - 5)
• Registration Deadline: July 28, 2009
• Cost: $150 members / $180 non-members

All our camps are designed to be age appropriate. Younger students learn to hone their imagination and creativity through play activities, arts and crafts. Older students will explore the theories and methodologies of performance as well as the technical aspects of theatre productions.

Participation in our summer program does not guarantee placement in any TCR production.
